The Ultimate Technique



Is there such a thing as the Ultimate Technique?

In the original Karate Kid, Mr. Miyagi said, "Best block, no be there."

So if this is true...then the best technique is one were you don't do one:-)

For me, part of this concept / statement is missing.

Each situation can determine the best technique for that situation.  So, no...there is no ultimate technique.  That does not mean that you do not train for different situations.

Awhile ago I wrote about How Many Do you Need?  where we talked about how many techniques one should keep in their arsenal.

Something to think about...the situation will determine the technique...not the other way around.  The amount of force used to defend oneself has to be proportional to the threat involved.

With regards to Law Enforcement and the Military.  There is an ultimate sacrifice whereby they give their life in the line of duty.  In this case...the word Ultimate is proper.

There is no ultimate technique.  There are great ways to train to learn how to respond to the best of your ability given the situation.

For me...training in Kyusho and understanding Dynamic Body Movement, Pressure Point Grappling & Striking, I have the best way to develop these skills.

In most cases, Knowledge is Power. When it comes to the martial arts...if you are teaching...then yes...Knowledge is Power or else no one would seek you out...BUT...Knowledge of what? If all one can do is dazzle someone with their BS, well...then the students, and the instructor for that matter...would have a false sense of security should they ever have to test their skills in a real confrontation. Choices

We make choices each and every day in every thing we do. Think about it for a second... Just the fact that you may or may not have stopped to thin about it...was a choice. You also made a choice to read this blog now, push it off until later, or scroll right on by and not read it at all.  All of these are choices. Choices are basically questions we ask ourselves.  For example..."What should I have for breakfast?  Should I cook something or just pick something up on the way to work?"   Every second of every day we make choices for everything...even whether or not we finish reading this blog.  Hell!  Just me making the decision to write on this topic...was a choice. Rocks in your feed bag?

Growing up my parents had a friend from Ohio that they had met in Barbados.  He would keep all of us entertained all day as we hung out at the pool with him and his wife and then the whole family would go to room 105 for drinks and canned cheese and crackers. Uncle Wil would tell us story after story about him growing up and the trouble he got in growing up during the depression.  He kept us in stitches and to this day, when someone in the family starts part of one of his sayings...someone else is sure to finish it.
